08/11/2003 Entry: "Poem: Across the Miles and In My Heart (Nov. 10, 1999)"
ACROSS THE MILES AND IN MY HEART
It's a Wednesday and my thoughts today and often
Travel across the many miles
From Orlando, Florida to a precious mama
In her room in Greenville, Illinois.
The picture in my mind is a lovely sight
That my heart holds dear in its center.
She is what has made me...
She is what has made our family;
She is our daily blessing.
It's a Wednesday and memories Speak
Of years past... shared laughter and love and joys
That wrapped us in a package
Called "LIFE"...
That named us "Bea's children".
With pride, we carry a part of her within ourselves.
I look around my own room and see her gifts;
I look within my own life and feel her presence.
There is a breadboard...clean now;
No dumplings or noodles or bread upon its surface.
What was her working tool
Has become my treasure...
Just as she has been for me all thru my life.
