DAD WAS…
A gentle, giant fairy man…
Bearing gifts to a scruffy girl child
Who wandered thru shaded forests,
Along the banks of an enchanted creek
And felt herself one of Nature’s creatures
Later, discovering she was truly His child instead…also.
His blue eyes…and His laughter…
His stories drawn from days of youth
…Inspired the girl child’s need for adventures of her own.
His judgments…His wisdom…
A thunderstorm that brought fear,
A rainbow promising protection.
Dreams shared…
His, as she grew and was in danger.
Hers, when He was gone…not there to touch.
Her world was so safe while He was there to guard her heart…
The new world, without Him, was much more cruel…
He stood near…but could no longer help her.
She had walked as a child in His footsteps
…Following.
She had held His hand
While He was holding her.
There had been a time long ago and far away…
