PEOPLE ZU AL-KADIRI PROJECTS DIRECTOR The son of an English mother and Iraqi father, Zu spent his youth shuttling between London and Baghdad; today, those cross-cultural influences continue to define his personal and professional life. After studying Middle Eastern History at London University, Zu thought he wanted to be a lawyer (or at least his father did), but an opportunity to collaborate with a photojournalist friend on a documentary project analyzing the fledgling Northern Ireland peace process in the early 1990's altered his professional trajectory forever. His eclectic professional journey has seen him experience the rewarding world of music video production in the the UK, and the equally weird and wonderful world of Bollywood Films. Among other things, his London days are remembered for a very successful four-year collaboration with MTV Europe where his production talents contributed greatly to a slew of award-winning work. Zu arrived in New York City in the spring of 2001 and quickly established himself as a sought-after freelance commercial producer. In 2002 he joined VFX powerhouse Spontaneous, and ultimately became its head of production. Zu joined Plus et Plus in 2004, and it has been his creative home ever since. The space where creativity meets commerce is Zu's spiritual home, and his success in making these often competing forces work in unison (or at least, stopping them from scratching each others' eyes out) makes him a hugely valued part of the team.
