André Stringer
Co-Founder, Creative Director, Director
Born in Annapolis, Maryland, André Stringer studied film and graphic design at Towson University, where his interests in design and traditional filmmaking began cross-pollinating and opening up exciting opportunities in the burgeoning field of motion graphics. After several years of contributing to high-profile projects in the music and skateboarding worlds, he took the helm of Black Entertainment Television On-Air Design. Andre served for two years as the growing network's art director, focusing on brand initiatives and image campaigns. André's next move took him to Chicago, where he worked as a creative director and director at award-winning creative branding company Digital Kitchen (DK). There, Andre directed projects for HBO, Microsoft Xbox and Budweiser -- all the while continuing to pursue groundbreaking work in the skateboarding market. Having met and formed a friendship with his future Shilo partner Jose Gomez while creating a skateboard film, in 2004, André moved to New York City to launch Shilo's New York City studio, where he continues to serve as creative director and director. Since its inception, Shilo has won a multitude of industry awards for design, animation, and storytelling... and in 2004, Shilo earned the Emmy for Outstanding Main Title Design for its work on the Showtime series Huff, which André led from concept to completion. The Shilo studio remains a hotbed of innovation in the fields of storytelling, strategy, design, animation and live-action direction. Over two decades, André's passion for mixing storytelling and design has propelled his work from the obscurity of subculture to the absolute mainstream, as exemplified by his works for Guinness, HBO, Ford, Under Armour, Nike, EA, Scion, and AT&T, to name but a few.
