CO-FOUNDER JAMES SOMMERVILLE DELIVERS A KEYNOTE SPEECH
Event Kicks-Off Fundraising Drive for 30th Anniversary Celebration of The Prince’s Trust LEEDS, ENGLAND – (Mar. 21, 2006) – Global creative agency ATTIK (www.attik.com) today announced that Co-Founder James Sommerville was keynote speaker at a dinner reception held last Thursday evening at Buckingham Palace. Hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales, the reception welcomed some 300 VIP guests as a key fundraiser, kicking off a series of high-profile events set to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of The Prince’s Trust. First established in 1976, The Prince’s Trust helps change the lives of underprivileged or troubled 14-30 year olds in the UK through financial and practical support. Over the past thirty years, The Prince’s Trust has helped over a half million young people, and continues to support 100 more every day. Twenty years ago, Sommerville and his partner Simon Needham presented their business plan for a design company to the Trust. A £1,000 bursary was granted to the then 19 year old men, and ATTIK was born. Today, ATTIK is a global creative branding agency committed to designing extraordinary creative experiences that inspire consumers through compelling communications that cross all design disciplines. With offices in Leeds, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, ATTIK now has an estimated turnover of £20 million per year, and continues to develop award-winning work for leading companies in virtually all business sectors. Among its active clients are Adidas, America Online, and Scion, to name but a few. At the dinner reception last week, Sommerville had the role of sharing ATTIK’s 20 year story and then introducing His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales to say a few words before dinner. The night’s guests included some of most notable supporters of The Prince’s Trust from the UK and USA, from blue-chip businesses to private donors. “It was a great honor for ATTIK and myself to represent the 60,000 businesses that have been started by The Prince’s Trust over the past 30 years,” Sommerville said. “This event marks the first of many initiatives that will raise public awareness over the next few months.” After dinner entertainment was provided by Simply Red. Sommerville continues serving The Prince’s Trust as a member of Yorkshire and Humberside Committee as well as an advisor to The Trust’s headquarters in London. At ATTIK, his role as Group Creative Director involves him in all of ATTIK’s European projects. A full slate of events celebrating the 30th Anniversary of The Prince’s Trust is set for May 2006.
